The North High Swim and Dive team is relatively new. Coach and Founder David Smithers started the team back in 1996. Now entering his 10th season as head coach, Smitty has an incredible team with Scholar-Athletes, All-American, All-State, and All-Arizona swimmers. Though there are only nine seasons in the past, the team still has a fascinating history, right from the start. The North High Mustangs have had incredible regionals and state meets, placing Top 5 in State two years running so that the rest of Arizona knows who we are. The team has seen multiple Flinn Scholars and Valedictorians of North. The history pages contain a lot of these memories.
